My Head Was Hot, So I Cut My Hair

Pedro: "Well, when I came home from school my head started to get really hot. So I drank some cold water, but it didn't do nothing. So I laid in the bathtub for a while, but then I realized that it was my hair that was making my head hot. So I went into my kitchen and I shaved it all off."

This is exactly what Campbell told us yesterday when we asked why he cut his hair. Campbell:"My head was hot so I cut my hair!"

As you can see he was quite proud of himself and was pretty upset when we decided to shave his head to "even" things out.
I don't even know how he was able to cut the back!?! But now ALL the boys have summer hair cuts. Among other news, we decided to plant a garden in our back yard this year which we were really excited about until we started digging up the spot for the garden and found that under the top layer of grass was a layer of rock! This is a picture of all the rock we dug up out of the garden. A few of the rocks were so big that Andersen had to break them up into fourths so that we could lift them.
So Friday, Campbell, Mason, Coolidge and I were finally able to plant the garden. Campbell was a huge help and did at least 3 rows all by himself. I think I have a natural born gardener (as long as there are plenty of popsicles around). Here is Campbell spacing out the seeds.
It's not a very big garden, but hopefully it will do. Porter got home from school just in time to put the last cucumber seeds in the ground and then it promptly started to rain. Talk about good timing!

And for our final news, for those who haven't heard yet, we are expecting a GIRL August 3rd. Here is a picture of the growing belly. I'm just glad that she isn't here yet and that Campbell decided to practice cutting his OWN hair :0)

Congratulations, that is so exciting!! You will have so much fun with a girl & her brothers will absolutely adore her! Your boys are all so handsome & I am very impressed at how well Campbell was able to get to the back of his head. :) My boys have cut the front before, but never accomplished as much as he did!

Congratulations! On the baby AND the garden! I'm so excited for you to have a girl.

I laughed so hard at Campbell's hair cut. I can't believe he was able to cut the back without scalping himself! He must have been a man on a mission!

Where have you been all my life? Yikes! You certainly dropped off the face of the earth! Lolly and I want you guys to come to Columbus in July. What do you think? We need a reunion and my home is right in the middle. Never mind that you're pregnant! ha.ha. Okay, so after you stopped blogging way back before Christmas I kept mentioning you periodically to Shyler. I would tell him, "I bet she's pregnant. She has to be. There can't be any other reason for her disappearance!" Anyway, congrats! We are so excited for you guys! A little girl! That is really awesome! loves! I'll email you soon!

Those boys need a girl to settle them down. Maybe they will have a sister like Jerusha that won't stop singing.

I can't tell you how weird it is but sometimes when I'm trying to figure out what Jordan is saying to me I see a little Campbell in him..."I...I...I...I...I..." I love my nephews! Are you going to visit Amelia in DC? I like your hair in the pregnant pose. Feeling the girl vibe yet? Does it seem real? I'm super duper excited to have my first neice!!!!

I am so excited for you! You look great! You must have fantastic sleepers because you are having your fifth! I just have one 6-month-old who doesn't like to sleep, so I am really embarrassed to admit that I can't handle it and probably can't handle as many kids as I'd hoped for.

Hope you are doing well and getting sleep.
