Porter's Baptism

As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe that when a person reaches the age of 8 that they are old enough to distinguish between right and wrong and are therefore accountable for their decisions.

"Baptism by immersion in water by one having authority is the first saving ordinance of the gospel and is necessary for an individual to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to receive eternal salvation. All who seek eternal life must follow the example of the Savior by being baptized and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost." http://www.lds.org/

We are so proud of Porter and his decision to take this first step in following our Savior Jesus Christ.
Andersen and Porter all dressed in white.
We were so lucky to be able to share this day with the Jackson family. Matt and Josh Jackson were also baptized that day. What handsome young men! Cheryl Jackson did an amazing job organizing everything and putting the program together, I don't know what we would have done without her!
My Dad gave an amazing talk on the Gift of the Holy Ghost. He really had the boys captivated. We were so glad that my parents were able to be apart of such an important day in Porter's life.
And thank you to Bishop Blodgett for re-arranging his flights from the Philippines and travelling all day and all night to make it to the boys' baptism (straight from the airport). It meant so much to have you there! I'd also like to thank Porter's primary teacher Sister Sakamaki and Sister Wilbur from the primary presidency for being there. And thank you to all our friends who were able to share in this special event with us.
And what's better than a cookie buffet after being spiritually nourished? Here is Cheryl and Ashlee getting everything put together.
So, I had seen this cookie on a stick idea online and had to try it out. Luckily my mom was there to help me with my crazy scheme. Although we probably stayed up way to late making them I think they turned out pretty fun.
At least Campbell thought they were fun :o) What's better than a chocolate chip cookie on a stick?
We tried taking pictures outside after the baptism and this is the best one of our family. Not too bad. I have no idea what Mason is yelling about. I think the church does a wonderful job of landscaping, at least the backdrop was pretty.
And here we all are with Grandpa and Grandma Adams.
Afterwards we all went out to eat for dinner at the Olive Garden. Love that place. I think my Dad was asking my Mom if she had taken enough pictures already.

It was such a nice day that we were able to eat out on the patio, which works best for our spill-pron boys. What a great way to end a special day, no cooking for me!

Awwww, I wish we could have been there. I know Porter has always been handsome but dang, he's just getting better looking each time I see pictures of him. I bet Campbell was in heaven and you said it excatly "what's better than having a cookie on a stick" and his face in the picture was perfect, it was like you were advertising it because you made me want to try and make them. Congrats to Porter we love you and are proud of your wonderful decision. I was thinking about him the other day, how much he's grown and all. Remember when we'd go on walks when you guys lived in that one house in Provo. The one where you started off in the basement back part and moved to the basement front part and became the managers....anyway, I was remembering going on walks with you guys and Porter found this one huge stick and he looked so darn cute holding it and everyone we passed had to say something about him and how cute he was with the stick. I really loved those times with you guys. Everywhere you moved to it always felt like a save haven for me. Thanks for that, it was much needed at that time in my life. Sorry about that side track but I wanted Porter to know we love him. And I can totally see Dad asking Mom if she'd taken enough pictures already. hahahah, (sigh) Dad!

What a great day for all of you! We're very happy for Porter and his wonderful parents. Your family picture is great and I do love the background...those flowers are amazing. I'm glad your visit with your parents was so fabulous!

How fun! I'm so glad Porter was baptized. How nice that your families could come to be with you. The flowers at your church look much better than ours. The desert heat has pretty much destroyed the petunia's beauty at this point. Cute pictures.

Congrats Porter! I'm so glad you put pictures up of the baptism and his birthday. I know we've lived far apart for a long time but for some reason it felt especially weird not to get to see Porter baptized. Porter's cake was awesome! and I can't believe how different Coolidge looks! Mathew asks me about once a week when we get to play with Porter and Campbell again!

Congrats to Porter! Yea for 8! I can't believe he's 8 already! That means Emery isn't too far behind! You're a terrific mom! You always put a lot of love into everything you do for those boys. I hope they'll always be appreciative of all your hard work! Love to you and your family!
