Grigg Family Reunion

I know it has been a while since we went to the Grigg Family Reunion (June 10-17), but it took me a while to sort through the 600 pictures everyone had taken. So here is my super blog on the reunion. The reunion was at Andersen's parents house in Socorro, NM. We left a few days before and stopped in Denver to play with Steven and Jerusha and their boys, Matthew and Jonah. We all caravaned the rest of the way down to New Mexico. Here are Andersen, Campbell, Porter, and Matthew riding a bycicle built for 4? Jerusha took us to Washington Park in Denver for lunch one day and the boys had a ton of fun. This was just one of their many adventures.
The boys could hardly wait to get to Grandma and Grandpa Grigg's house to play with their Lego's. It was one of the first things they did when we got to the reunion.

But they loved playing in the back yard too. Especially when there was a trampoline, rope swing, tube slide, tree house, and hammock. Nice jump Porter!

Porter on the rope swing.

Andersen and Porter tried swinging together.

Porter and Campbell playing in the hammock. No relaxing for these guys.

And they loved hanging out in Grandpa's tree house fort.

For Family Home Evening Aaron and LoriAnn put on a puppet show for everyone with the help of Will, Joe, and Tiff. They did "Nephi and the Brass Plates."

Here we all are enjoying the show.

Then the kids played musical chairs.

So the adults had to get in on the action. Luckily no one was hurt.

With 4 babies in diapers things got a little stinky every now and then. Way to go Mason! That's the way to start off the morning.

Monday night we held the first Grigg Reunion Pizza Cook-off. Andersen's mom used to make pizza all the time and each family has perfected their own pizza skills so we put them to the test. Here I am displaying my hand-tossing technique. Look at that form!

Here are all the pizzas ready to be judged. Ours is the one in the upper right-hand corner.

Here are the judges. Dad was the taste tester, while mom kept score. The scoring was close but Andersen and my pizza came out victorious! Hopefully we'll be ready to defend our title in a few years at the next reunion.

On Tuesday the 12th we all loaded up and went to the Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque. The price of admission also included the aquarium and gardens so we made a whole day of it. Here is Joe hanging around with Campbell, Kaylee, Porter, and Matthew.

I just love this picture of Hallie checking out this peacock that happened to be wandering by. What a cutie!

Mason, Joe, and Campbell watching the baby giraffes.

Luckily we didn't have to walk over to the aquarium and gardens from the zoo. We just hopped on this train and it took us right there. The kids thought that was great.

At the aquarium the kids got to touch some of the sea creatures. Campbell is checking out the points of a sea urchin.

Even Mason braved touching a mollusk.

Porter and cousin Kaylee pose for a picture in front of one of the fish tanks. Watch out for that lobster on your shoulder Porter.

Here are Hallie, Jonah, and Mason getting up close to the fish

That's a shark fin by Campbell's head. Creepy.

Then we all went to the Rio Grande Botanic Garden where they've built everything super-sized so you feel really small. Here Campbell found a life-sized worm.

Porter is trying to turn the water faucet off. Keep pulling Porter!

Campbell found a cozy toadstool to take a break on.

Mason is sharing butterflies with cousin Hallie in the butterfly pavilion. It's a special enclosure with hundreds of butterflies flying around. So neat.

We even got a couple's night out without the kids (plus Tiff and Joe). Of course we ate at El Sombrero, Socorro's best Mexican food. Who was watching the kids?

Grandma and Grandpa. And we wonder how our kids get so hyper.

Here are the girls having a nice relaxing evening ...

While the guys went camping with the older kids.

That looks safe. What are you teaching our boys, Andersen?

And of course the best place for some quality family time was on the Trampoline.

So, that was the jist of our Grigg Family Reunion. We all had a great time and can hardly wait till the next one!

Looks like the Griggs know how to party. I loved the pictures of the kids eating icecream and Grandpa Grigg walking away with the sweet fudge toppings. That's what Grandparents are for. And those pizza's looked really good, I want to try the one that was in the upper left hand corner.

Wow, what amazing pictures!! You still hardly look pregnant, lady! (When are you due again?)

That is SOME backyard Grandpa has there! Tube slide, trampoline, treehouse, hammock, swing...awesome! I want him to be MY grandpa!

Those pizzas look so yummy! Congrats on winning! It's so funny that he's all blind-folded and official looking as the judge!

It looks like you had a FABULOUS time. We miss you guys!

It was a fabulous time. Andersen's parents did a great job of organizing everything so it ran really smoothly.

And I may not look very pregnant in these pictures, but keep in mind they are almost two months old. I promise you I'm MUCH bigger now :0)

You did a much better job capturing the week! It was so fun. Just two more months! Wow! I bet your not thinking "just".

AnnMarie, that looks like such a fun family vacation. I wish there could be more trips like that in life.
