Thanksgiving Day

Since we were in Spokane this year for Thanksgiving, Joann and I decided that the best way to start off the day would be to run the 3-mile Turkey Trot at Manito Park. Even though it was hard to roll out of bed and be there by the 9am start, it was a great way to kick off the day. Porter even begged to come with me to run the race, too.
One of Joann's best friends, Melissa, decided to run, too. Well actually, they walked because they are both pregnant, while Porter and I ran. Burr, it was so cold out! I heard someone complaining that it was only 17 degrees!
Despite the cold weather and early time the park was packed with eager runners. Yep, this is definitely runner's country around here. This is only half of the people I could get in one shot.
Joann took this next picture, and I think Porter will cherish this picture for many years to come. Yes, that is him way out in front of me. Look at that form!
Porter is quite the runner. He definitely had the sprinting part down as he'd race ahead of me and then need to walk a few steps while I caught up. I was surprised, though, at how far he was able to run. He did a great job, I think I've found my running partner :0)
With the race out of the way we could finally get down to business...Turkey! Notice how John and I are hovering around my Mom carving the turkey.
It's nice to know that the olive tradition is still alive.
Here we are ready to feast! From left to right around the table there's my brother John, Campbell, Joann's husband Travis, Jimmy, my Dad, my Mom, Porter, Me, Andersen, and Joann is taking the picture. Mason and Jordan were taking a nap so we thought we'd take advantage and enjoy the food without them. Only Ben and Amelia weren't here this year. Amelia is still serving a mission in Argentina and Ben stayed in Provo because he had 1st row tickets for the BYU vs. Utah game on Saturday.
Ahhhhh, no Thanksgiving is complete without a nap and some FOOTBALL!
Paper airplane in the butter.
Whenever John comes home Campbell is like his little shadow. I think Campbell likes him, do you think? :0)
One of our family favorites is playing 'Family Feud.' And Joann, I'm sure that there are a lot of people who buy a BOAT before taking a trip. Hee. Hee. Don't worry, it's just pregnant brain :0)
And of course what is Thanksgiving without PIE? You can see Mason has the right idea, just dig right in!
Oh Yeah!
As if pie wasn't enough, the boys decided that since there was a fire going in the fireplace, they needed to roast marshmallows. Porter has perfected his roasting skills. Look at that golden brown marshmallow. That's right, he roasted the thing all by himself. He even roasted one for me.
Thank you Mom and Dad Adams for a wonderful Thanksgiving. What great memories!

Thanksgiving was awesome! You did a great job describing what happened. I was going to put something about "the sun" comment on my blog but I didn't want to look too stupid.

Hey, I agree with you, the sun IS too hot to touch. Ouch!

And Jerusha, I chuckle every time I think of that Thanksgiving, too. I learned so many valuable lessons in just one weekend :0)

Ahh Thanksgiving. You can't beat a day when you can eat as much as you want and be as lazy as you can and not feel quilty. How much longer until next Thanksgiving? =)

What a fun day! I'm impressed by your descriptive blog too. I keep
putting off posting about our Thanksgiving because it is going to be long!

So I'm thinking that we need to have Thanksgiving at your house next year when you are in Lexington. We'll come up, Jerusha and Steven can come down and we'll have a rockin' party!! You guys better buy a BIG house! LOL.

Seriously though, do you know when you guys will be heading east? Will it be at the beginning of the summer or later? Yippee! It will be so fun being closer to you guys. We drove through Kentucky on our way to my parents' house and it really is so beautiful. I was plotting our route to Lexington and getting so excited!

BTW, now I'm curious about your first Thanksgiving with Jerusha and Steven...Toilets??

I am so glad you guys got to spend Thanksgiving with your family AnnMarie. Those pies looked wonderful. I thought you were suppose to run after the Thanksgiving dinner. But oh well at least you ran. Tiffany and Lori did too. It looked like a great thanksgiving. Mom
