Cincinnati Flying Pig 5K

For the last few months Andersen has been training for the 5k Pump 'N Run race in Cincinnati, OH. It is part of the Flying Pig Festivities with various races run on Saturday and Sunday.

Andersen had been looking for a race where you can do lifting AND running and the Flying Pig Pump 'N Run was the perfect match. The rules are pretty simple. You weigh in, you bench press your weight, the more reps you do the more time is taken off your 5K race time.

Andersen weighed in at 180 lbs, so he had to bench press 180 lbs. He was able to do 19 reps! They take off 30 sec. from your 5K time for each rep so Andersen was able to take off 9:30! I still can't believe he can bench press 180 lbs, yet alone do it 19 times! After Andersen was done doing the "Pump" part we waited for him to do the "Run." Unfortunately it was pretty wet which really didn't seem to bother the boys except for Porter who had to go to the bathroom. Apparently all the rain wasn't helping him. We almost didn't make it to Cincinnati in time because the rain was coming down in sheets! It was like driving through a waterfall. Luckily by the time we got to Cincinnati it was only a drizzle.

Andersen did awesome in the race, even though the Nesquick Bunny Beat him. That rabbit was fast! I think he came in 3rd overall!
Andersen came in 50th overall out of 1,939 in a time of 22:10. That was even with getting stuck behind a wall of walkers at the beginning!

I even got a finishing kiss through the fence :o)

The boys were pretty proud of Andersen's finish, too. Or maybe they were just excited about the snacks.

Waverly says, "Great Job, Daddy!"
And even though it was raining they had these blow-up toys out, so the boys tried them out
The monster truck was their favorite. I don't know why the decided to put these up in the rain, that can't smell good when it dries, but the boys were in heaven.
And the day ended in a beautiful sunset! And to think this morning we almost turned back because there was so much rain!

Hey, I bet the boys just loved the bouncy things. Wow, Andersen, way to go the extra mile. Porter is a good photographer, that was a good one of you and Andersen kissing.
