Today was Stake Conference which meant that church didn't start until 10am, BUT Andersen was on call this weekend so of course the hospital scheduled a procedure Sunday morning leaving me to get everyone ready and then sit through 2 hrs. of church with a group of wild hooligans! Andersen was hoping the planets would align just right and he would be able to make some of Conference, but no luck. He arrived after the closing prayer. We were able to pack a lunch before we left so that we could eat at the University of Kentucky's Arboretum that is right across the street from our Stake Center. It was a gorgeous day and by the time we were done with lunch, the chaos of the morning had melted away. We even attempted a family picture using the timer on our camera. We're about half and half. In this one all the boys look great, but Waverly and I didn't quite make it to "pose" position before the camera took the picture.
In this one we did alright, but the boys did not. Oh well, that's why I'm showing them as a pair :o)
What a good looking group of boys! There are a bunch of huge trees that have been cut down and placed in this part of the arboretum for kids to play on. Who knew a hollow tree and some stumps could be so fun?
The gardens were amazing! Everything was green and in bloom and the boys loved running from one garden to the next. This is a picture of a knot garden. You can kind of see how the purple and green bushes overlap each other to form a knot pattern. Impressive!
And the boys' favorite part of the arboretum is the fish pond which was loaded with fish!
Coolidge is telling the fish to come closer so he can catch them.
Campbell thought that maybe if he splashed the water around the fish would come closer. Hmmm, don't think so Campbell.
And then Mason just decided to get right down in the water. I thought this attempt would be just as counter productive as his brothers' attempts, but he managed to hold still long enough for one of the fish to come up and nibble his finger!
