Last Sunday Andersen wanted to try out a fire in our fireplace to see if it worked before buying a bunch of wood. The boys actually call them "Grandpa's magical logs" because my Dad every year buys a bunch of energy logs to burn in their fireplace. I was working on stuff in the office when I became aware of some commotion going on in the living room. When I went to investigate this is what I saw.
It just cracked me up, there they were all huddled around the fire arguing about how to get the fire going. Here is a little bit of their conversation:
Andersen: "Just back up guys. No Campbell! Stop throwing those in!" (Campbell thought that the best way to start the fire was to break the matches in half, one at a time, and throw them in the fire)
Porter: "No Dad. You're not doing it right. Can you just let me show you how to do it?"
Mason: "Ugh, Ugh"
Andersen: "Porter, I think I know what I'm doing. Campbell, STOP!"
Campbell: "We need to use Grandpa's magical logs!"
Porter: "Dad, if you just put the paper on top and then light the paper the wood will start on fire."
Andersen: "Guys, why don't you go and see what Mom is doing?"
This is Mason throwing a fit because Porter took away the matches. Thank you Porter!
Once they finally got a small blaze going Campbell went upstairs and found his camping chair and parked it right in front of the fire and asked if we could roast marshmallows.
Unfortunately the fire didn't last for very long and we ended up with a bunch of smoke in the house. I think next time, I will start the fire :0)

That is so funny! You had me laughing out loud. I can totally picture it in my head, voices and all. You have such a great sense of humor AM. Those little moments are pretty priceless and I'm really glad that you share them with us!
That is so funny! I love the conversation!! Oh-a fire would be so much fun!!! On another note-I sent you an email-I'm not sure how often you check it or not, but I thought I'd give you a heads up here-just in case. It's so fun to see all your boys!!
I loved the commentary, I can totally picture everyone saying that with their own voices which makes it hillarious!!! And the fact that Campbell put his camping chair right by the fire cracks me up. We were over at Mom and Dad's on Sunday and they had a fire and we roasted marshmallows with them, yummmm! And the comment "go see what mom's doing" I use on Travis when I want the boys out of my hair. It never works though. I love your boys! They're just awesome.
All I have to do in the morning to chear me up is log on to the Andersen AnnMarie Family Circus. I felt like I was really there and that I have heard it all before exactly that way. Especially when Andy says "go see what Mom's doing". I was laughing so hard I was crying. I love those boys and miss them way too much. Love Nana
That is so cute. It is funny how much life, and conversations, change when you have a bunch of kids around to help.
